Ms. Dziubinski

           My name is Sylvia Dziubinski and I am thrilled to be working at Lane Tech. I want to take the time to let you know a little bit about myself. I graduated from the University of Illinois at Chicago in 2014 with a degree in Teaching of Mathematics. I have high expectations for all of my students because I feel that each and every one of them has the potential to accomplish great things. I also realize that students learn in different ways and complete math problems in different ways. For this reason, I encourage students to look for different ways of completing the task at hand. I will also accept different solutions to problems.

            I do not expect all the students to be math geniuses, but I do expect 100% of their effort in class and when they work on their homework. I also encourage students to try problems even if they think they will make a mistake. There is a lot that can be said for mistakes, they allow a teacher to see where a student was thinking that the problem should go.

            There will be homework daily in class. There will also be 1-2 short quizzes per week. I grade homework for a completion grade for the reason that I mentioned above. No student is perfect on the first try; I want to give each student the opportunity to better themselves. Some of the problems may be challenging. For this reason, I encourage the students to work with peers on the assignments.
